Skill level: Intermediate Knitting
Technique: Mosaic Knitting
Materials
-2.75mm needles, or size to give correct tension/gauge. Please note: These mitts are knit from the wrist cuff up, in the round. They can be knitted using your preferred small circumference circular knitting method: magic loop, double pointed needles or 9” circular needles.
-Approximately 60-70m (65-75yds) Main Colour, 40-50m (45-55yds) Contrast Colour, 4 ply/fingering weight/sock yarn.
-3 stitch markers.
-tapestry needle, to weave in yarn ends.
Tension/Gauge
-26sts x 40 rows in Stocking Stitch in the round, correct gauge/tension is essential to the success of this pattern, so don’t hesitate to go up or down a needle size to obtain correct gauge/tension. If your gauge/tension is dramatically different your mitts may be too big or too small.
Finished Size
-Approx 20cm (8”) hand circumference, unstretched. The mitts will stretch to accomodate larger hands. Size is measured around the palm, above the thumb.
